Xmas Match 28.12.22

Locky was good enough to send me his write up as I wasn’t there, thank you buddy.

Shaun.

Today we had our, rescheduled Christmas match at trinity.

With 20 people fishing and the weather forecast for wind and rain, it was never going to be a big weight day, 💨🙈

First on the day was Tony Fry with 28lb 12oz winning a very nice hamper and getting his name on the trophy ( much to Phil’s discussed 😂😂) well done Tony.

First in silvers was Mr Slim Selway with 11lb 13 oz also picking up a hamper, well done Nick.

Well done to all framers 🎣🎣

Every member who fished today went home with a box off sweets, box of biscuits and a bottle of wine,

Special thanks to Tony and Gail, for sorting out the hampers and buying the gifts

On behalf of the club I would like to wish Phil all the very best for his operation next week, and a speedy recovery, there’s a few members in the club who’s weekly £1 will be missed.

Don’t forget the AGM on Friday 6 January .

Happy new year all x

Xmas Match cancelled 18.12.22

This morning I met Locky & Phill at Woodlands to inspect the lake for tomorrow’s Xmas Match, Locky brought his ice breaker, unfortunately the whole lake was covered in a very thick blanket of ice probably around 2” thick.

The decision was made to cancel the match & reschedule. I believe Phill is going to ring around & let people know. I’d like to wish you all a great Xmas & New Year & I’ll see you in the New Year 😁🤶⛄️🎣

Thanks,

Shaun

Heads up for the Xmas Match

Woodlands is being monitored this week by Locky at present there is a half inch sheet of ice on the lake.

Please bring your Ice Breakers for Sunday hopefully all will be well but it’s always a good idea to be prepared to break the ice if. needed  ?

Thanks

Avalon 11.12.22

Tony Knewll sent me the sheet ass Yammy packed up early. There were quite a  lot of no shows !!!

I canceled on Tuesday when the focast was set for ice, with the road to Avalon probably not treated it was a no brainer for me…

Bagger Knewll Westy & Yammy smashed the ice for the pegs. They fished a

match & went home - simple as that 🤣🤣🤣

Sunday 4 December 2022

Summerhayes 04.12.22

 Summer Hayes longs04.12.22

So went to the above fished a match & went home lol 😂

Grim it was but I have to try & write something about nothing so here goes bare with me because it’s going to be a riveting read..

I pulled into the car park & there were a few there already. We have longs & Pete has also booked his own match on there aswell, we have the road bank & his open have the other side - a full lake.

I drew 29 I’d already sorted my day & that was going to be dobbing as long as I had the right peg ?

I also used my little 7ft Preston Wonzee for fishing a small pellet feeder which came in handy as I had a empty peg to my right, that gave me the option to get further along the bank out of the pole reach it did produce a carp & a couple of liners. Across I had some reeds to my right only thing was there were snags amongst them.

Anyway I had three Carp all day which I lost two, dobbing the far bank oh & a skimmer for a lb & a few roach off the other lines.

The end…

For company it was good Stan to my left & Yammy One up.

Bagger Knewll was doing ok on the tip & Stan had three or four. Lead Heads 🤣🤣🤣

There you go told it was going to be gripping 🧐

See you next week at Avalon, tight Lines

Sunday 27 November 2022

Sedges Tile 27.11.22

 Sedges Tile

The weather was set to be really good after all the rain of late, I arrived shortly followed by Guru & Matrix Ducky Junior.

Locky & Stan arrived & we queued for the cafe to open, Guru was giving it the large one on how he was going to give us a lesson today on the Silvers & true to his word he did 👍🏻🎣

On to the draw & I picked up 32, a nice island in front of me & a empty peg to my right 31, the only problem chucking to my right was a tree so it made things difficult I couldn’t get in there.

Normal winter feeds for me Gb & Maggots. Three lines two long & one short.

Negative feeding on one & the others a bit more positive needles to say the positive lines didn’t give much apart from a couple of skimmers & a carp that done my elastic & rig.

The negative line was ok once it got going but didn’t last. I found myself scratching around on all lines even the tip that was set up with a cage feeder for anything that swims didn’t do anything, with an hour to go I altered the tip rod to a carp set up & bit the bullet to try & chuck to my right avoiding the tree a bit tricky but it got me two Carp I should of done this a lot earlier. That’s my day I could see a lot of guys struggling apart from Yammy “pictured” he was on them again “good angling”

On my way back to the car park to load up I saw John W he’d had a nasty day trying to get bites plus his number 5 broke through no fault of his own I did feel for him.

The banter was going around the car park nicely Ducky got all the nuggets out of his ashtray that he’s won off Guru pmsl 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Matrix was giving Guru some jip aswell. Nice end to the day see you next week 🎣

Xmas Match after Venue

 Xmas Match after Venue

Hi Guys

A date for your calendar - Great news it was looking like we had no venue but after I made some effort & phone calls with Jan I can now confirm, this will be held at the 37 Club where there will be a buffet & beverage from the bar if required. The overall winners will collect their prizes from the 37 Club the same as any other prize ( The committee have made the decision there will be no prizes handed out in the car park or any type of presentation held in a cold changing shed at Trinity- its Xmas 🎅 ) a lot of time & effort has gone into this at all levels from Tony’s wife Gail, plus Tony & Gail going out of their way to shop for prizes, with all this effort going in we only thought it would be right… Any prizes not collected will be raffled off at the 37 Club for members attending.

The AGM

This will be held at the 37 Club on the 6th January 2023 at 19.00hrs onwards.

Tony Fry has wrote an agenda letter that will be published on here & also a paper copy for members to be given out this Sunday.

Thanks

Shaun

Woodlands 20.11.22

 Trinity Woodlands

Rock Hard Rock Hard Rock Hard !!!!

So the above just says how hard it was today & I’m not putting it down.

I pulled into the car park to see John W,  Guru & Yammy & Matrix we’re already there, it was pouring with rain Yammy said to me I hope you got your brolly, I looked at two fourcast & one looked ok & the other rain 🌧️ & wind so I was hoping on the first however, it is what it is.

We had a little chat about the venue for after the Xmas match tbf we’re not making much headway on that score but I won’t go into that on here.

The rain started to break & the car Park started to fill.

Times we’re 9.45 - 14.45 just the job for the winter ahead,

I drew 14 not bad but I’d prefer the other side definitely for company I had Yammy on 15 & John W on 13 so absolute diamonds for company, we had some great banter aswell. I thought well I’m gonna get batterd today but the fishing was far harder than I predicted. I set up a little Cage feeder for anything that swims along with my rigs to the same principle. 9.45 & all in it was flat carm with a lovely blue sky we did have the odd shower but the contender was going to be the sun in our eyes on this bank & then the wind started “it was rough” I was having a massive problem with the sun I tried numerous lines to get the peg going it was a non starter including the edge which can be really good on this peg but not today. Yammy had a nice skimmer then anther followed by John, I was scratching around until I had a couple aswell. I could hear Bobby struggling & Dave T. I scratched for hours totally bite less Yammy was moaning of no bites & John was putting a few in the net but again struggling. That was my day done when the wind really started going for it, I thought this is pole breaking wind with no bites I was done.

Yammy said he’d had two bites with 5 minutes to go & one was a 10lber. I got the van loaded & went & seen Guru who’d had a nice day catching on the cage feeder in the bottom left corner. Well done 👍

I drove home & my head was truley banging so early bath for me with some head ache tablets as you can see that was the best part of the day lol 🤣🤣🤣 that’s fishing. On to the next - sedges next week so let’s hope for some bites winter is here 🌧️🥶

Sedges 13.11.22

Unfortunately no blog this week as I couldn’t make it, however, there will be a blog next week after Trinity 👍💪🎣

Venue change from Landsend to Sedges

 Hey Guys

💥💥💥Venue Change 13.11.22 💥💥💥

This message is to let you all know that there has been a venue change from Landsend to Sedges Brick. There are only 10 pegs booked for half of the lake for the Anglers that booked Landsend. See you at Trinity Tight Lines.

Avalon 06.11.22

Yammy doing a few word for the blog this time as shaun's still away.  So Sunday morning at Avalon was the chosen venue for the day. We'll the draw was done and I ended up on peg 27 next to John wolstencroft. At the all in I had a carp first put in then nothing so went on my pellet line and had a quick run of small roach and skimmers on corn and then nothing whilst John was having and losing small skimmers. He can swear I tell ya as all sorts of words were leaving his mouth lol. Anyway I looked like we were going to have a shower and out the blue it lashed it down and it was biblical proportions lol. I could see Rob Eagle and Martin catching fairly well also. I ended up with 10 carp for 55lb being beaten by Stephen Coles for 3rd So not to bad. Well done to Tony on winning it and the other framers. Paul lock I hope your feet have dried out also. See you all next week.

Shiplate Main Lake 30.10.22

Sorry no write up as I’m in White Acres looks like it was a close match 🎣

Sunday 23 October 2022

Trinity Woodlands 23.10.22

This weeks sheet at Trinity Woodlands no blog as I didn’t do this one, I had a day to myself yesterday at the same venue but a different lake - Middle Marsh. Yammy sent me the sheet. & said he lost to many to count a frustration of a day with him commenting he  could of chucked his gear in…

I’m off to White Acres Saturday so I won’t be around for two weeks it'll be the sheet only

but if anyone wants to do a write up cool 😎 send it to me & I’ll put it up

Monday 17 October 2022

Sedges 16.10.22

 Sedges 16th Brick

was looking forward to this one but had a shadow of a doubt in the back of my head as I fished Woodlands a few days before with Tich Williams & boy we struggled well maybe me a bit more than him, we both caught but it didn’t really come good til the last 1.5 hrs.

Anyway I met the boys in the cafe Matrix Stan & Locko Guru had over slept no cafe treat for him 🤣

It’s a special one today two celebrations Locko’s & Guru Birthday happy birthday guys 🎂🎂🎂 XX

Guru had his new pole absolutely lovely it’s a nice bit of kit the Air Z & it looked it 😁

On to the draw & I drew 11 Flyer I was chuffed mind set locked 🔒 IN CARP out & out for company I had Yammy 😁& Simon Gardener so a nice day to be had well it would have been if I had a bite Wow I had two bites all day. 😳

I chucked the tip up through the margin & to the corner of the rope I had no signs on this I stuck at it on & off all day,

I done a short line & a short margin line in the stumps & to the tree nothing apart from a roach & a blade to the tree obviously I had no carp in my peg I couldn’t believe it I’ve never had this peg infact I’ve never had a corner peg 😳

The lake looked like it was struggling nothing was really happening I could see John W on 12 he wasn’t rocking the world but he’s had a few

At the end Locky said to me they weren’t there Shag easy as that & I’d agree. The only thing I could of changed is - done a silvers line but why would you on a carp peg never mind on to the next.

I am looking at a different style blog where I will film from home rather than the write up so if you see a couple of testers you know what it is 👍 let’s move with the times 👍🎣

Monday 10 October 2022

Summerhayes 09.10.22

 Summerhayes Longs

This week our club hit the above venue with 12 eager competitive Anglers, I quite like it here so all good.

As I drove in I could see Yammy & quickly followed by John Wolstencroft, he made a dive out of his car telling us he needed fresh air - he’d over indulged with an Indian & my gosh he certainly had the wind 💨 🤣🤣

Westy done the pegging me & Yammy done the rest, I drew Yammy at the end & he returned the favor back giving me 34 I wanted this area as I’ve never been down this end before.

I’d done a fair bit of prep on the Saturday - I got out my short F1 tops & put all my rigs on so there ready to go, that’ll save time 😁 14m across was ok until the wind picked up strongly this was my main attack line which was a mare in the wind however I stuck it out for most of the morning I’d also done a down the track line for Silvers - no good a margin line for when ever I thought the Carp were there.

A day of two half’s the morning I’d had all my fish from across & a bit in the afternoon when I could get on it without getting my pole blown away. The afternoon was spent foul hooking Carp too many to mention a complete mare I don’t get it I done everything I could think of to limit this but nothing was working just another foul hooking day 😳

When I spoke to Yammy he had the same problem & also did Stan & Westy.

A couple of the guys fishing Sellicks open asked me how I got on they said they’d had the same problem on there so maybe water depths who know but that would explain things. Next week we won’t have any problems with depths as we’re at Sedges & the Kiddy to look out for is my Mucca Locko he’s been smashing it down there on the Silvers winning a festival & a Fry’s match yesterday 😁😁👍👍🎣🎣

See you there not sure how much space is left so give Guru Beardsy a ring to book in 👍

Monday 3 October 2022

Landsend 02.10.22

 Landsend Lake 2

So this week we at the above, Locko & Rich Coles have taken this week off to fish the festival at Sedges after a quick catch up last night Locky & Richie had won 🏆 for the second year in a row, well done boys, Legends 😁

So I was the first to arrive with Guru turning up next, the weather was awful P@@@ing it down but set to clear up for 10 o’clock. In the car park I was chatting to John W he was telling me about how he can’t get to grips with hard pellet fishing 🎣 also Ducky was telling Guru how he was gonna do him this week on the Silvers & true to his word he did lol 😂 well I think he done us all, not surprising after he was there yesterday & he knew what to expect - which leads me on to this..

When me & Stan went down to the lake to our surprise it was less than half full, I said not for me I’m going but I didn’t, we only had around 18” of water maybe 2ft at best & I mean best, you’d get a nose bleed sat on the platforms they were that far up.

So on a more positive note the sun was set to come out & it’ll be a nice day no matter what yeah no matter what 😳

I drew 24, Great - run to that one as any Angler that fishes for Carp would do on its day it’s a Flyer, to my left was Stan & Fletch nice line up really across was Simon Gardner which worked in my favor as I could probably read my peg by his & he’s good Angler to follow.

So my eggs are in one basket Carp with a Silvers line just in case, Carp lines are easy long down the right margin where the Carp live & a Carp line to the vacant platform next to me.

I never thought the weather was going to play such a big part in my match ? The sun never really got to me so my peg was in the shade all day, I went out first on the Silvers line as I was waiting for my Carp lines to go I had a Tench then a F1 & another but I made the Cardinal Sin of my Carp Lines god knows why but I concentrated on them all day even tho the Silvers line was producing I don’t know what was in my head apart from a carp peg, I was hooking Carp most of the day but foul hooking due to well I don’t know Simon was struggling & Stan was having a few then I had a run hooking them in the mouth then back to foul hooking again, the air wasn’t blue it was black. Hindsight’s a wonderful thing I should have gone for Silvers it was ok I briefly went on it during the day & probably chucked 8lb back tbf, I was the last to be weighed in, I couldn’t be bothered I chucked back my Carp I was out of it anyway, the weather was my enemy today no sun 🌞 on the water so it was cold 🥶 & so was I.

On to the next see you at Summer Hayes Longs I believe 🎣🎣

Monday 26 September 2022

Avalon 25.09.22

Unfortunately no blog as I had to pull out due to a trapped nerve in my neck, however, Locky sent me a brief message this morning saying it wasn’t his day. He had a day on the Silvers but in hindsight he should have gone for Carp. Hopefully I will be back Sunday for Landsend

Tuesday 20 September 2022

Memorial Silvers 18.09.22

 Memorial Trinity Woodlands

So today was a bit of a special Day, the day we remember Two great guys as I’ve said before but this one is the second match in their name.

When I arrived Guru & Matrix were already there. Guru telling Matrix about his new rods coming but unfortunately there’s no date for an ETA & Six Rods he’s going fore lol 😂 he was also on about his new box again no ETA but late November its due date, I asked him why he’s getting the White Absolute & his reply was because your getting one 🤣🤣 lol 😂 fair play.

Shortly after Nick Ducky Junior turned up waving his new Silvers / F1 tip rod around after he had a bargain on it.

On to the import bit now, the presure was on a Silvers Match, all good but so many Silver Anglers all wanting the win, I wanted low 20’s as all good Silvers pegs & they normally hang around that end, but not to be I drew 7 Great NOT My Day was doomed from there. A good Carp Peg as I was going to prove.

For company I had Rob E on 6 again a great Carp peg as he said - his words not mine I’m going at 1pm on my left Westy great to see him back after his hols & time out 🌞

Bagger Newell then Silvers Man himself Rich Coles my day just gets better 😳

All in at 10, 13m Gb & Maggots that could go with any hookers I feel may work, save me messing about nothing did apart from -  Carp & a short line that can also work well for Silvers - oh it worked for - Carp 😳

That’s my day Carp Carp & more Carp after nearly loosing my top 3 on - Carp, that was enough & I’d had a gut full so 2 o’clock I called it a day.

Rob E fished the tip all day & caught steady well done to him he was still there when I went & fair play for a guy that was going at 1 he went on to win 🥇 when I chucked the cage feeder out I caught yep - Carp 😳

Westy was also doing ok he was catching Silvers with some carp in the mix he gave me a Skill School Lesson same for Bagger.

It was a ok day, it was what it was nothing I could do really see you at Avalon. Guru has spoken to Vic we have the road side Pegs 26-45

I believe my mate is back this week after being stuck in Spain last week. I’ll look forward to it 😁🎣

Lake change 16.10.22

Hi Guys,

Phill has asked me to inform you all that there is a Lake change for the 16th October 22. After speaking to Jamie he has told him that the Canal will not be available due to water levels being down, he has kindly given us Brick Lake as a replacement.

Thanks,

Shaun.

Monday 12 September 2022

Sedges 11.09.22

 Sedges 11th September

As normal Sunday only means one thing club day, as I walked my dog on Saturday I spoke to my Mucca Locko for some info on today’s match he put me right on a few things with this lake as I’m not a usual so much as I probably should be. I think that’s going to change tho as it’s a quality fishery to have as a venue not to mention the on site cafe.

I met Guru & Matrix Fry at 7 for a breakfast also joining us was Graham Burge nice to see him back so let’s give him a nick name Budgy Burge 😀🎣

As we came out of the cafe it was a great vibe going round the venue was packed two matches on today & some faces I’ve not seen for a while one was Dave Romain Colmic Master in this area so a nice catch up with him.

On to the draw & I’ve got peg 8 a good line up on are side Richie Coles down the bottom then Rog followed by Matrix Fry, he wasn’t to happy with him draw tbf but as we discussed in the cafe his outlook seem to be good Pellet wag Bomb & edge seems like a good plan. Jordy Searle was also in the mix on this side he would be hard to beat on the tip. For company I had Guru to my left & bagger knewll to my right followed by Budgy up in the corner. I’m thinking is it going to be a Silvers day after a quick message to Locky in Spain telling me it’s a good Silvers peg Shag.

I’ve gone on the tip to the rope knowing I’ll catch both Silvers & carp, sure enough a carp second chuck,  with quick 3 minute casts I was into skimmers so I cracked on with that & started to feed my pole lines for Skimmers.

The tip dried up after about an hour so onto the pole both short lines however the two plus one was the best by far, I could see Fletch catching well Carp & Silvers & also carp doing him, Guru was struggling but he managed a few Bagger was doing very well no surprise there lol 😂 Legend, also John W was straight across he was on them & going well the rest of the other side didn’t seem to be to busy, I kept my head down & cracked on as I guessed I was doing ok ?? Guru called the all out at 4 so how was the scales going to go? I helped Danny & Bagger with the weigh in & took some photos.

Next week I’m not there as I’m having some time out with the wife in the caravan pitty as I’m going to miss Terry & Dick’s memorial match at Trinity, so I’ll see you the week after at Avalon. I’ll ask one of the guys to do a blog for the memorial match 👍🎣

Wednesday 7 September 2022

03.09.22 Shiplate Main Lake

No blog last week as the away day was cancelled, a few of us jumped on different matches whilst others were on holidays etc.

Me &. Locky fished for Fry ‘s we were at The Sedges Locky. done good with 3rd on the Silvers 👏 👏.& I weighed in a half respectful  90lb a good days sport.

Fletch & Sausage went to Viaducts open where Fletch framed on the Silvers 👏👏

No match for me this week, so I asked Guru if he could do the blog for me, it’s always good to read someone else’s prospective of their day, it makes a nice change 🎣🎣

This weeks Match was at Shiplate &

we had 15 fishing, after a lovely bacon and egg roll with Mr Matrix Fry we were onto the draw done by Yammy with the help of Westy.

First in the bag was myself and peg 2 was my home for the day, being one of the smaller pegs I decided to fish for Silvers.

The all in at 10 o’clock & match on, it fished well for most of us.

The far side seemed to fish better with some good weights.

Bagger Newell was on fire, he never lets us down with 1st overall with John W 2nd and Jordy Searle 3rd

The Silver fishing was good 1st  Mr Cole’s 2nd Dave Tunstall and 3rd Bolton George, I just pinged short in 4th with 23.6, I had a lovely days fishing.

next Sunday’s Match has been Rescheduled. We are on Brick at Sedges. I’m looking forward to seeing you there - tight lines 🎣🎣

The Guru Tart 😁💪👍

Sunday 4 September 2022

Venue change 11.08.22

Change of venue for next week, Covey is closed so we’ve changed the venue to Sedges Brick 11.08.22

Sunday 21 August 2022

Avalon 21.08.22

 Avalon

Today we’re at the above & a great turn out.

I parked the van up to see Locko Matrix Tony & Guru a fine body of men. Paid my do’s & had a chat with the guys, the lake looked great & the weather was set for perfect conditions for plenty of bites.

It’s a heavy time for me the 6 weeks holiday when my business peaks so 15hr days are the norm, prepping is tough but I do my best.

So to the draw I was the first one in & looked at 43 I’ve never been up this end of the lake so all good, my preparation was limited so I worked with what I had, I tried to keep things very simple - Conker to the island one silvers line & a carp line & a slapping rig.

For company I had Stan to my right & Grandad Pascoe to my left just past them seem to be a good line up of Silvers Anglers Fletch & Rob down running on my right was Sausage John Davies, another good line up.

On the all in I thought I’ll watch & feel my way in, best way to do this was on the tip & go from there. This was quite productive but only small stockies tbf that lasted about an hour. I fed my carp line the same time as my silvers lines to keep every option open. The carp line wasn’t doing anything & the tip had died. Ok let’s concentrate on the Silvers, I could here Grandad P struggling for bites & Fletch didn’t seem to be on fire 🔥 I was getting bites but they weren’t positive actually quite finicky but it was improving over time, sure enough it did it wasn’t rocking the world but it was slow & steady.

I did start to have a bit of banter with Grandad Pascoe & George would pipe up every now & a good glow in the air. I luv it when I say Skill School & Grandad P was the receiver today. I was gob smacked when Danny drove by he’d packed up & given his nugget to Fletch then Colin Lambert drove by aswell wow that’s two ticked off the list. Word was coming up the bank that everyone was struggling one way or another so I thought just keep your head down & keep going 😁 Stan was having sperts of carp then Rob Eagle had packed up. He said to me just keep going - sound advice from a very experienced angler.

The all out was called so what had I done Locky came up through with the scales to admit to 12lb he was joint 2nd with Fletch & I’d done the Silvers I was over the moon on a tricky day to say the least.

Great day see you on all in 2 weeks tight lines 😁👍🎣

Wednesday 17 August 2022

This years Away Day

 Hi Guys

Phill has ask me to let you all know that the Away Day this year to Todber has regrettable been canceled mainly down to numbers attending..

On a more positive note - Terry & Dick Hurford Memorial Silvers Match will be held as normal on Woodlands on the 18th September, as it says this is a Silvers Match only. One to look forward to 😁🎣

Thanks Guys

Shaun

Tuesday 16 August 2022

Sedges 14.08.22

 Sedges 14.08.22

Not much of a blog for this match as I wasn’t there, I was at Trinity Woodland with Fry’s, fishing their match, my first with this club & yeah went well I was 3rd in there Silvers so more than happy with that….it was tight with the top Silvers at 21.10 & my 3rd with 21.03 I did get smashed me up once to many times at 3.15 I binned the match off then as the sun had done me 🌞

Insidently the Lake record was broken with 300+

By Luke  💪🎣

I spoke to Locky when I got home he told me to hot 🥵 same as everyone including Kingy who I spoke to on the phone yesterday - he wanted to fish the Pellet Wag but couldn’t he had his brolly up for shade, he said things were tough then he started to catch well starting to gain on Jordy who was on the tip catching well - well nothing changes there 😁👍💪 I see Tony Fry done well I reckon he was on the Pellet Wag & Bomb & Pellet.

Yammy doing his bit not a clue what he did but it worked 💪🎣

Avalon this week book in with Guru  & I’ll see you there 😁👍🎣
