Viaduct Campbell lake 30/8/18

Viaduct fishery Campbell lake

Campbell lake ..Car park end

So a short trip for me today and the club was on the prolific Campbell lake which is full of fish but the weather has gone a bit cooler this week so it might make it a bit harder .

We had 20 booked into this match but by the time we got to the draw we ended up with 17 which is a great number to have on this lake so we would  leave pegs 113 and 117 out as they  are set right back just to make it fair .

No Shane today so Tony Fry did the money side of things and Phil (Guru tart) started to collect the xmas match money … So if you want to fish the xmas match please pay Phil (£10) ..

Anyway we would be paying top 2 overall and top 2 in the silvers... Also the golden peg today was peg 118 …So into the tin of dreams and I got my mitts on peg 112 and a peg I have never fished before ..

Looking at the results over the last 2 weeks the carp looked to be holding up in the area of pegs 130/131 so I had a chance if they move over our side ..

I set up a silvers rig,2 deck rig for banded pellet ,a margin rig  and 2 tip rods and mixed up some ground bait.. also I had some worms/corn/red maggots and a selection of pellets on my side tray … looking around I could see Phil on peg 110 , tony fry on peg 111..and the 2 BIG guns on pegs 114-115 Danny (Pinocchio baits) and martin (octopussy  baits) so this could a hard day also I was told that the best silvers angler in the club had the golden peg 118 !!!!

Looking over I could see that man Eric on peg 131 ..Tony N on peg 128 and Roger up the far side of the lake on peg 123 and  was thinking the which one of them would win … …

So to make things interesting me/tony fry and the guru tart had a £1 side bet …

I was waiting for the start of the match and was chatting to a guy on Cary lake when I heard some commotion over the far side … Yes we had Tom Daley over on peg 126 doing what he does best and diving into the lake ..ok it was Kev doing a back flip !!!!! I was thinking shit !! then he popped back up!! with help from john and Graham they pulled him put and Graham sorted out some dry clothes for him ( Thank you) and fair play to Kev he sorted out his gear and got on with it … Top man !!

At the all in I put 3 balls of ground bait on the 13m line and a small cup of 6mm pellets on the top 5 line and had a quick look on the top 5 line and it just sat there .. After 10 minutes I gave up and chucked out the tip rod ..I could see Tony N on peg 128 catching and also Roger (Hovis baits) on peg 123 also catching ..then Eric started to get 1 or 2 … I didn't have a bite on the tip all day !! not even a line bite.

So binned this and went on the silvers line and had 1 or 2 better skimmers so after the first hour it was silvers or bust !! As Tony N had 5 carp ..Roger 6 … and me well ….none !!

So I fished out the 3 balls of ground bait and kept topping up when it went slow ..but this would bring in the carp and cause me and my hook box problems !!!

I could see Martin (octopussy baits) on peg 115 catching (silvers) and that man Danny (Pinocchio baits) also shipping in and out every 30 seconds (silvers) …

After 6 hours Eric with a boat load of carp also roger/Tony N with 3 nets each ...so which one would win ??

Steve started on inform peg 110 with Phil the guru tart and he had 50-9 of carp and 8-4 of silvers for a total of of 58-3 and yes he was winning well until tony beat him again with 63-14 … Then it was me I had 44-5 of accidental carp and 27-13 of silvers for a total of 73-2  and £2 from Phil and tony !!

Next up it was Danny (Pinocchio baits) on peg 114 who had 26-7 of carp and 25-8 of silvers for a total of 51-15 ..Then that man …….Martin (octopussy baits) who was carped out on his silvers line and put on 21-9 of silvers … Mike D was next on peg 116  and he had 52-4 of carp and 10-0 of silvers for a total of 62-4 … Then is was "the best silvers angler in the club" George  on peg 118 and boy he didn't disappoint as he had 61-6 of vermin and 39-13 of silvers … And the git also had the golden peg !!!but would he be beaten !!! …

Over to the fair side Roger (Hovis baits)  had 138-5 of carp from peg 123...Ross on peg 124 had a dnw… Graham on peg 125 had 56-9 ..Kev on peg 126 had a cold and 17-9!!! John on peg 127 had 18-0 of silvers ..Tony N on peg 128 had 112-7 Then it was Brain (HMRC BAITS) on peg 129 and he put on 48-8 ..Rob on peg 130 had 27-4 of silvers and then Mr carp aka Eric on peg 131 plonked on 163-0 ...and lastly it was D.T on peg 132 who had 28-2 of carp and 22-5 of silvers …….

So back to the car park and Tony did the results and yes that man George (best silvers angler in the club) had only gone and won the golden peg !!!Fair play to him ..there was £2666 in the pot today and he said he will buy breakfast for all that wants one next week at landsend fishery... Nice one George !!!!

Top man George with his bumper pay day !!! Free breakfast next week !!!

So the winners today :

1st overall Eric peg 131 163-0
2nd overall Roger peg 123 138-5
1st silvers George (best silvers angler in the club and today he was) peg 118 39-13
2nd silvers S King peg 112 27-13

So well done to Eric and George and also well done to Kev for sticking it out …and thankyou to John and Graham for saving a man life !!!

next week we are at landsend fishery and are a bit low on numbers due to holidays/league matches etc .. so we could do with a few members next week … if you want to fish please ring Tony Fry or just turn up !!!!

See you there …

HLS ANGLING Dad's Army Trinity Woodlands Wednesday 26th September

We  were at Trinity Woodlands today, the lake looked great on a perfect Autumn day.   Eleven of the boys?? fished, but I was not one of them under the doctors orders, and of course the wives.   Anyway it could have been embarrassing and hard to live down if I had had an accident, I had a stomach virus!!

We had both ends and the back of the lake.   Danny selected the pegs for the draw,  two was the Golden Peg.  Misha had taken Lilly to the doctors, but we fended for ourselves; no problem.

The car park looked like an after battle site.   We had Tivi Dave with all sorts of problems, Ninja blowing like a Dorset Horn, whilst George was hopping on one leg with gout, and some of the others looked like they had battle fatigue, and we had not even had the draw!!!

The draw was made, Tungsten got peg 12 making people mutter, he had The Sheriff on peg 10, and The Brad on 15, giving him plenty of competition.    Boy George got 6, and started telling his porkies saying he was not moaning.   The Golden Peg went to Ninja, and it looked like farewell fifty notes English.

Everyone moved off and I sorted the money, and gave Danny Misha's money.   I then went home for a rest and a nice lunch, having promised Danny I'd return for the weigh in.

At two-thirty I was back having a chat with the lads, who all agreed it was pretty difficult.   I settled down with Mustard, hoping to give him a little advice, and look at his gear and method.   He was catching whitebait down the side when I arrived, but at the all out he had not caught another fish, but reckoned he had learnt a lot, was it how NOT TO CATCH??     Anyway George next door saw the funny side, and was rolling about laughing, the gout forgotten.

At the weigh in we started with Ninja, who said he had had a bad day with just 51lbs 9ozs, then it was on to Mustard, no comment, then George with 7lbs 14ozs of sprats and some carp 26lbs 10ozs.  Next it  was our new member Bill the Paste, who was fishing top two with PASTE, he had amassed 138lbs 14ozs of scaleys, and a 2lbs 13ozs perch, giving him 141lbs 11ozs;  this made him the winner by a distance, also saving our Golden Peg.

Tivi Dave had 34lbs 10ozs.  It was then onto silvers, Danny 28lbs 13ozs, Tungsten 13lbs, and The Brad, John with 22lbs.   Well done everybody.   Full results below.

Next Wednesday we visit Sedges Tile, so let's make it a good one.

Trinity Waters 23/9/18

Trinity Waters "woodlands" 23/9/18

Wet Wet Wet !!! Got  up at 5.30 and in Frome it was lashing it down and I was thinking why ? why do we do this ? but when you have a fantastic venue like this it worth getting all your gear wet …anyway I  got my car loaded, made a flask and grabbed my Gore-Tex and boots  .

Made my way to mac Ds in Street and had a bite to eat and it was still raining then me and martin made the 20 minute trip to Bridgwater ..I  spoke to Eric and gave him his worms and he went on his way … Then a few started to turn up and their looks said a thousand words, then Phil said that we had 16 booked in but by the time we got to the draw 4-5 went on their way due to the wind and rain so there was only 11 ..

Looking from peg 2

Anyway Tom sorted out the pegging and Shane sorted out the money side of things and we got under way ..I got peg 8 in my mitts and I handed Danny (Pinocchio baits) peg 15 (flyer!!!) and made my way to my peg ..Martin (octopussy baits) had a end peg again and I said I will take a photo of the winning peg before we started … but would I be right!!

Looking from Lord c's peg

I wasn't sure what to go for today so set up a silvers rig, a paste rig (didn't work) and a slap rig and also a deck rig and last but not least a pellet feeder ….

Tony shouted "All in" and off we went .. I started on the slap rig and all I could get was roach !! so onto the deck rig and I was getting line bite as I would strike and then hook carp mid-water so back out onto the slapping rig and hooked 2 in 2  and was thinking "sorted" but that was my lot on the slapping rig as the wind changed and it went a bit iffy !!! Then my problems started as I hooked good carp but they go under my platform and we would part company !!! 5 times!!! but I still had a few and enjoyed the day ..

The sun came out at 12 and dried my gear so that was a bonus but I was fishing for pride only today as I could see Tony N  and Martin both catching carp well and next door (well 4 pegs away ) D.T was catching one a bung (silvers) and I was sure Danny would be doing the same on peg 15 ..

At the all out I had a carp on so I was a bit late packing up so Tony N and Lord C started the scales on peg 6 with John who went of silvers and plonked on 14-10 ...I had 78-10 on peg 8 ...D.T had a great weight of silvers and had 50-5 and also 18-14 of carp for a busy total of 69-3 ...Tony Fry (silver fox) on peg 14 had 75-3 ...Danny also had a great day with a busy 34-14 of silvers and 36-4 for a total of 72-2 ..next up it was Paul (Paxo baits) on peg 23 who had 9-14 of silvers ..Shane on peg 24 had a D.N.W ..muppet!! Brian (HMRC baits) on peg 27 had 40-5 ..Then it was that man George !!! yes the best silvers angler in the club !!! who had fish like a machine all day and said he had 2681 fish for !!!!!!!!!!!! 21-4...….next up it was Tony N who had 86-10 and lastly it was Martin (octopussy baits) who had a nice day and caught 108-2 to take the win!! Man that boy is class!!!

So the winners today :

1st overall  Lord C (octopussy baits) peg 33 108-2
2nd overall Tony N peg 31 86-10

1st silvers D.T  peg 12 50-5 …. well done !!
2nd silvers Danny (Pinocchio baits) peg 15 34-14

D.T with a great net of silvers (50-5) ..well done that man !!

Sorry old photo (shiplate farm) but he said he wanted his photo on the blog !!!
anyway this super star had 108-2 of carp ..

Danny (Pinocchio baits) on peg 15 with 34-4 of silvers

Tony N on peg 31 with 86-10 of carp

Next week we are at Viaduct ..I think we are full but speak to Phil just to see if there is a space see you there !!!  Steve

HLS Angling Emeralds Wednesday 19th September

There were just nine of Dad's Army at muster today, and there were decisions to make as to which lake to fish;  the result was Ruby as the specimen lake was not available.

George and I did the pegging, the money business was completed and it was time for the draw.  The Golden Peg number four,  who got it?  The Nasty Old Sheriff AGAIN!! unanimous vote get the Sheriff.

I drew seven sandwiched between Ninja and that man George, I seem to be there every time we fish.  He must be getting fed up being thrashed by the next peg
.
Everyone was ready so we were all in at 9-45.   I was into fish straight away, mostly small skimmers.  Ninja was on the pole!! catching silvers, while George was dropping fish off; nothing changes.

The wind was blowing a hooligan, but down amongst the trees it was not a problem.   This must be the best venue we could fish on a day like today.  Everyone was fishing the maggot and getting some fish.   I was feeling fairly confident as the silvers kept coming, so building a weight.   The time was passing and George started catching good silvers, but it was too late and time for the all out.

Danny and I started the weigh with Mustard on peg 10 weighing 7lbs 8ozs, the WO2 Bill 13lbs 1oz, John had 6lbs 15ozs of silvers.    Then it was crunch time; Danny on the Golden Peg 4 who weighed 9lbs 9ozs of silvers, but had sneaked in 14lbs 1ozs of unmentionables for a total of 24lbs 4ozs   I knew I had beaten him on silvers, but very few carp had shown up.

Next it was Roger with 9lbs, then Eric with one small carp and 1llbs13ozs of ninja, which was good enough for second silvers.   Next it was my turn weighing l9lbs 2ozs of silvers.   George had 7lbs 6ozs of silvers and a carp, which he swore was at least 10lbs , but it weighed 6lbs 8ozs; he is such a dreamer.    Tungsten was last to weigh, he had 8lbs 15ozs of silvers, and 7lbs 13ozs of carp, which meant the Golden Peg had gone, there were lots of tears and a smiling Danny, well done that man.

It was a hard day and it's only September!!

Next we visit Trinity, so let's get busy.

HLS Shiplate Farm 16/9/18

SHIPLATE FARM
So this week we were back to the fantastic venue "Shiplate farm" and in my view it must bee one of the best fisheries around and I love the place !!
We had the main lake booked today and had 17-18 booked in but by the time we got to the draw we only had 13  as a few were sick etc .....
Before the draw me and Martin (Lord C) had a look at the lake and we could see carp on the end of the island on peg 3 and lots of carp in the pegs 1 and 15 and with the wind blowing hard into these pegs I was thinking the writing was on the wall; so a draw here was a must !!!
Sorry old photo  ..looking from peg 9

Anyway I paid Shane my pools and had a chat with a few guys and Steve and Carol said it has been fishing well but the weights have been a lot less now that the weather has changed.

The golden peg was drawn and it was peg 4 so a great silvers peg but not to sure about carp but you never can tell, and it all depends on who got peg 1 and 15 in my opinion.

So at the draw I got my hands on peg 5 which I seen was second on the cost cutter on Thursday with 18lbs so I was already thinking of a silvers day BUT I was waiting to see who got pegs 1,15 ……..

Well I had to laugh as the 2 biggest tackle tarts got there hands on these great pegs so we had £25000 of guru and Daiwa gear on peg 1 (Phil the guru tart) and £25000 of Preston gear on peg 15 (willy Wonka aka Shawn) and it looked like a trade show; you got the love them !!

So I made my way to peg 5 and I could see that man Eric on golden peg 4 and also Tony N on peg 6 also looking over to the far side I could see a few silver guys .. Lord C on peg 11, sausage on peg 13, and the main  man Danny (Pinocchio)  on peg 14B!!!!  so I  was thinking I was up against it as peg 14 won the silvers in the cost cutters match … oh yes and we had the best silvers angler in the club on peg 3 and with his new pair of eyes and a big ego and he was going to empty it today  … well that's what he told me but there again he tells me that  every week !!!
So, I set up 4 pole rigs :
1 rig for the silvers long
1 rig for silvers short
1 slap rig just in case I went for carp
1 paste rig for carp
1 rig for banded pellet long for carp
and a pellets wag rod ...not sure why !!!
Bait wise I had corn, dead reds, expanders, micros, and ground bait (Sensas lake)

At the all in I put a small amount of corn and micros on the 13m line and 2 balls laced with micros and corn  on the 2+1 line and went out on the banded pellet rig at 13m just to see what would happen and looking over peg 15 (willy Wonka) was playing his first carp  of the day....silvers it is then... so I put a ball of g/b on the 13m line and started on the 2+1 line and had a few small skim bobs and after a 15 minutes I could see my 13m line fizzing so I went out on the corn and bumped 3 in a row then had one about a pound then another about the same size .. so stuck with it for the rest of the match … I could hear Eric catching next door and I also could see willy Wonka on  peg 15 slowing down but there were fish being caught so a good day for most ….at the all in I thought I might have 40lbs of silvers and on the plus side I only had 3 carp all day which was good ..

We started the scales on peg 15 with Willy Wonka but we had to wait 10 minutes as he had to get the fork truck up the path way to move all his kit back to his van. Anyway he put on 87-13 and I thought he had more but with the guru tart on peg 1 he might get 1 or 2nd. Danny (Pinocchio baits)
on peg 14B had 20-15 of silvers, Kev on peg 14 put on 3-14 of silvers and 14-2 of carp for a total of 18-0..roger (Hovis baits) n peg 13A had 4-4 of silvers and 42-2 for a total of 46-6.. next up was all round Mr nice guy "Paul" (Paxo baits) on peg 13 and he had 16-0 of silvers, Shane on peg 12 had 51-2 ….Then it was Lord C (octopussy baits) on peg 11 and he had 25-1 of silvers and 46-14 of carp  for a total of 71-15... Tony on peg 6 chucked back, me on peg 5 well I had 41-12 of silvers, Eric had 6-13 of silvers and 69-14 of carp for a total of 76-11...………….. Drum roll please it was the "best silvers angler in the club on peg 3. Well he had 25-14 of silvers and 9-14 of carp for a total of 35-12 , D.T on peg 2 had 12-2 of silvers an 16-9 of carp for a total of 28-11 …….And then it was peg 1 well all I can say it he looked good if nothing else ….the guru tart lost loads and put on 43-5 ..I did tell him to fish stronger but you can't educate pork!!

So the weights were down but still plenty of bites and I would say winter is coming ..

1st overall - Willy Wonka peg 15 87-13
2nd overall -  Eric peg 4 76-11

1st silvers - Steve King peg 5 41-12
2nd silvers - George, "The best silver angler in the club" peg 3 25-14

Next week we are at trinity waters so book in with Phil the guru tart failing that just turn up !
have a good one …

HLS Angling Wednesday 12th September Shiplate Hawthorns

Shiplate Hawthorns was the venue today, fourteen well turned out veterans of many conflicts were well prepared.   Steve and Carol were in charge, they made us very welcome as usual, it's always so relaxed and friendly here.

The lads willingly? parted with their coin, so the business was quickly completed.   All fifteen pegs went into the bag, with peg two the Golden one, which was drawn by George.   Danny got peg one, he grimaced, or was it wind?   I eventually got peg three, the other side of George.

When we reached our pegs everyone commented on the large number of carp swimming near the surface, and we all agreed it would be a difficult day.

At the all in it was pretty quiet, except for George, whose description of the fish who supposedly were not in is swim, can not be printed.   This prompted Danny and myself to have some fun at his expence, which lasted the whole match. In the end we beat him on both sides.!!

Danny and I started the weigh in on peg 15, and we could not believe it when Ninja, the carp machine, said only two, we thought he meant nets, but he had just two fish!!

The match was only memorable because all the lads were wondering around due to the lack of fish. So it is only a short blog this week.

Simon won overall with 44lbs 9ozs,  Danny second with 29lbs 6ozs.   The Big Bird Rob won silvers with 7lbs 15ozs, and myself getting second by default.   We all agreed this was not the normal results for this venue, and we are looking forward to returning in the future.

This was another good turn out, let's hope we can keep it up.

Next week it's Emeralds, which we have not fished for a while.  So don't get rusty, let's do it.

                                                 Bob

PS: The Wednesday lads convey their condolences to Phil and family on the  loss of his mother.

HLS Away day Hillview 9/9/18

Hillview 9/9/2018
Well it was that time of the year again and the HLS crew had a sort tip up the M5 to Hillview Lakes, Twyning, Tewkesbury …  We only had 14  turn up which was a real shame as the club was paying for the 2 lakes but what pools money we put in the pot would be paid out in full !!!
Well I was the first one to turn up and had a walk around and the owner told me that we had lake 3 and 4 booked so I went and had  look ..

Anyway I could see loads of carp in the 1st pegs on each lake so if I had to pick a peg this would be my choice … when I got back to my car I put out my nets and then Mike turned up and he said there are loads of f1s in these lakes so it would be a learning curve for us all as we don't have any venues in Somerset that have loads of f1s in them so it could be a tricky day .

I had  a bite to eat in the café  and we decided to put 7 on each lake and pay 1st overall and 1st silvers so the owner sorted the pegging out for us .

Danny (Pinocchio baits) sorted the boards etc and we got under way .... I got peg 79 which meant bugger all to me  and made my way to my peg which was Canal number 3 .. I was a bit gutted not to get a corner peg but that's life ...

On my lake we had Mike on peg 69 , Dave on peg 71 ,Stan on peg 73, D.T on peg 75, Shaun (Willy Wonka) on peg 77 which was also the golden peg , me on peg 79, Colin on peg 81..

First thing was to make some paste from the fishery brought pellets so I put some hot water over them and let the water do its magic !! I then set up  4 rigs, 1 for over to the far side (never used) a deep rig, a slap rig and a margin rig

We started at 10 and I went out on the 2+2 line with the slap rig and had 1st chuck and was thinking this is easy !!!! Then I had 10 Rudd and a few more f1s and that was my lot for the in the first hour . Next door on peg 81 Colin was having a great time getting a carp a chuck and I was thinking the writing was on the wall also Mike and Stan both started well ....

Anyway I went onto the paste line and started to put a few fish in the net but I still kept feeding the 2+2 line hoping it would work .. 3rd hour in and it just died on me again as it went flat calm  and  both me and Colin struggled for the next hour ..with 1 hour left I went onto the shallow rig with maggots and had one a bung but would it be enough??

We  started the scales on peg 69 and Mike had 2-7 of silvers and 52-13 of carp for a 55-4 , Dave  was next on peg 71 and had 1-14 of silvers and 34-5 of carp for a total of 36-3, Stan on peg 73  had 3-15 of silvers and 53-13 of carp for a total of 57-12, D.T on peg 75 had 4-4 of silvers and 24-14 of carp for 29-2, Then it was the big gun !!! Willy Wonka on peg 77 who only went for carp and had 57-13 to go into the lead and could win the golden peg !!!!!!!!! by 1 oz !!!!!! anyway I was next on peg 79 and I had 4-12 of white bait and 90-0 of carp for a total of 94-12 ..... sorry Shaun !!!!!!!! and lastly Colin on peg 81 had 45-9 of carp ...

So I won overall on this lake and D.T had picked up the silvers as you can't win both!!!!

Over on lake 4 it was a close contest with Lord C (octopussy baits) on peg 84 putting on 117-9 .. George (best silvers angler in the club and with his new eyes) on peg 86 had 10-4 of silvers and 83-5 of carp for 93-9, Shane on peg 88 had 5-10 of silvers and 33-12 of carp ...  Simon  on peg 90 11-4 of silvers and 105-11 of carp for a total of 117-9 !!! next up was Tony Fry (silver fox) on peg 92 4-4 of silvers and 26-2 for a total of 30-6 .. next up was Tony N who had 15-13 of silvers and 40-13 for a total of 56-10 and last but not least it was that man Danny (Pinocchio baits) on peg 96 who had 11-11 of white bait .

So the joint winners were Lord C and Simon with 117-9 so well done to them both !! and the silvers was won by Tony N with 15-13 ..

So a big thankyou to all who turned up and thanks to all that helped ... Next week we are at Shiplate farm (main lake) see you there ...

Thursday 6 September 2018

HLS Angling Dad's Army Wednesday 5th September Avalon

We were at Avalon on the moors today, this is one of my favourite venues.   Ron was seeing to our needs, and I must say he keeps the fishery in pristine condition.   I think he knows how important it is to have large well made platforms, and the lads would like to say a big thank you.

There were just a dozen of us today, but it was competitive, with a lot of fish caught.   All the money was collected, the pegs selected, and it was time for the draw; 17 was the Golden Peg, and the Nasty Old Sheriff got lucky again!!   The air was blue with blasphemy aimed at the mentioned gentleman?

George was back today with new eyes, and there was no peace, this guy just can't keep quiet.   He reckons no one can beat him now he can see his float,  WE will SEE!!   He drew a good peg today number twelve with Tungsten to his left, and myself on his right, so it was game on.

All the talk was that Danny must be beaten, preferably with a piece of 4x2, but the Golden Peg must be preserved   Before the start I looked at George's tray, it was meat, corn pellets, and a large amount of ground bait.   I decided to fish caster and corn, which I generally have some success with on this water, and as close in as possible.

It was all in time, I started feeding in front, and just a few caster down the side to my left.   I started fishing down the margin with caster on the hook, while feeding all the time in front,   After catching a few roach, it was time for larger specimens on my main swim.  I prepared for the wait eating a doughnut and pork pie

Bill the Paste, on my right, meanwhile was catching from the off, and if at all possible, making more noise than George..   After an hour I had one good bream and a few bits.   The second hour produced a nice golden tench.   The corn and caster did not seem to be working, so against my better judgement I switched to double maggot, and got lucky with a 4lbs Tench, and another bream.    My day was slow with ten decent fish and some bits, but the weather was fine, and the company good even if a little noisy.    Another great days fishing.

Ron was in charge of the scales and he started with Rich who weighed in 104lbs 14ozs.  Sausage had 13lbs 2ozs of silvers, then Danny with 14lbs silvers, would he be caught?? Tungsten had 65lbs 9ozs, Next it was our bionic man George who weighed 15lbs of silvers and was all smiles   I was next and as I lifted my net out of the water it felt good,  I was quietly confident,   The scales do not lie, and the man never beaten by the next peg was hammered again when Ron said 21lbs 15ozs.   Bill had two overweight nets, so could Bend It do the business?   His net came out and it was close, he had 21lbs 8ozs of silvers.

The drama was not finished with Ninja yet to weigh with two nets of scaleys, again it was tight, and the result was a draw with another 104lbs 14ozs.

Another good match, well done everyone.   Full results below.

Next week it's Shiplate and there are a few places left...Speak to me,

Sunday 02-09-18 - Viaduct Cary

Now then...... I apologise for the lack for quality on this blog cos the King Postie is having a rest, just back off his hols and concentrating on winning another pot of gold!!!

Being the local rep for this fishery, I can only say thanks again to Steve, Helen and Matt for your wonderful services and accepting the HLS crowd.

I was late on parade and found that the 'Match Secretary'.... Mr Tart, had gone AWOL...... at the mistress house again, Phil?
So, we carried on and 17 turned up with a spring in their stride and money in their pocket, well 15 quid.

Draw time and Lord C let me have first dibs.... Peg 78.... yahoo, silvers here I come. Mr Bowyer fished this peg in the cost cutter so I asked his advice. His info is available for a small fee...... However he did say that I was to beat Danny on the golden peg, 96. Ok, thanks for the challenge!!!

At my peg I was told to plumb all in front and notice the change in depths. Having found the deep water, I decided to go simple and fish pellets and corn over some nice smelly, sweet, groundbait.

After 45 mins the pellets baits caused finicky bites..... switching to corn was the answer. I got regular bites from quality skimmers and Bream. I caught steadily until the last 2 hours.

I had Mr Casting Carp on my left, Roger Coombes, who was hoping for a snooze at midday. However, his tactics kept him awake. Switching between pellet and worm, he had to stay awake and fill 3 nets. I could see Danny on the golden peg and he was catching regularly. Could I stop him from getting the money.

Please don't pay too much attention to the score sheet cos John Bradford needs to go to Spec Savers and learn to put the right figures in the correct place!!

The winners, picking up the money this week were.....

Overall
1st - Roger Coombes - 125lb 10oz
2nd - Martin Western - 86lb 15oz

Silvers
1st - Danny - 39lb 10oz
2nd - Dave Tunstill 32lb 6oz

Sunday 26-08-18 - Summerhayes Longs Lake

The Guru Tart was in charge of the match and the Blog but he left his Shakespeare skills at the mistress' house.

Here is the score sheet and it shows that the usual culprits took the honours!
