Silvers league

 As the last winter Silvers league was such a success, Danny would like to run another Silvers League. 

Good on you Danny I’m sure it will be a big hit with the guys.

Saturday Dinner time I felt quite rough so unfortunately I had to make the call of death to Shaner to take me off this week. Unfortunately there’s no blog unless someone wants to report their day ?? I did read the sheets & the two big guns blew right out Kinger & Westy im sure their pegs were worth more 😁😁

Phil rang me in the evening & asked me to pass this on through the blog. 

We had a meeting before the match started & it was agreed that the membership fees go up to £25 per year.

Winter fishing how do you describe it ? Good day - Bad day?  land on em or a Terry Wogan Blankety Blank ? 

So this week we’re on Longs at Summerhayes funny thing is I thought we were on Sellicks for some reason.

I was fist in the carpark this week soon joined by Guru then Yammy Townsend we all had a quick catch up before the carpark started to fill, No Locko or Yogi this week Shame I like to see these guys. 

The weather was set to be cold 🥶 & cloudy & it sure was, this week we’re back to our normal draw I drew 25 hmm not where I wanted to be. I set up a simple out look a .2 Guru Diamond strung out with No 10,s for the open water to my right at 13m same rig done across at 11.5m. 2nd was a dobbing rig main line 0.15 to a 20 on a 0.11 hook length for corn skins or maggots. Guru blew the whistle for the all in, I fed the open water swim with some maggots & a small nugget of Gb then went 14.5 to the sedges on a corn skin didn’t get a touch for a couple of hours I’d already fed a couple of other lines for bites but none came 😅 I went dobbing again on maggots & started to ping a few over feeding different swims to bring in a few curious carp I managed four by 3.30.. 

On the other hand Dave Tunstan was next to me & he was struggling then Westy,  he was dobbing bread & catching. 

I could see Jordy Eric & he was catching well landing maybe not so many, I got to say I was watching him quite a bit nothing else to watch 🤣🤣 he fished a tidy match tbf. Rob eagle pushed past me & said he blew out as there were all carp down by him saying Tony Knewll had done well & the same for Kinger. Yammy said Kinger was busy fishing loads of lines & constantly moving, I’ve not spoken to him yet on our weekly chat he’ll tell me all about it when we do 😃

Sausage done well on the Silvers but Bagger Allen blew out on his day as he told me in the carpark. I didn’t want to hang around so I quickly loaded & got out of there as fast as I could. A good mate of mine Dave White told me something back along at Covey the best place you can be in winter Is by the fire 🔥 & on days like these he’s 100% right 👍

Next week we’re at Trinity hmm how’s that gonna go someone will be on em? Soon be February on a better note 🤣🤣🤣

As you all will probably be aware & some may not ? Unfortunately The Viaduct have cancelled our matches for 2022.

Me & Steve have been looking & asking our normal venues if we could drop in on these vacant dates unfortunately they are fully booked. 

We are set for a new venue in 2023 suggested by Martin Western & agreed at our last AGM, this venue is Covey Fisheries basically just down the road from Viaduct (luckily enough) 

Please can you amend your dates on your calendar to the following

I have been & I had an amazing day catching F1’s a Barbel & some Silvers so a good all round fishery, I hope Covey will be a good addition to our calendar & enjoyed by all..

So here we are again writing about something that didn’t happen but you really wish it did 🙃

When I arrived loads of the guys were already there unloading & with a can do attitude which is always refreshing to see. 

I was met by my mate Locko telling me about his 12lb he lost around the waste & I’ve got to say he looks good for it, the three Stooges pulled in the carpark they were Kinger Westy & Bagger Allen, they were full of it ha 🤣 I wound Kingy up with just one sentence gosh I didn’t realise he was so naive haha easy plenty more to come 🤣🤣

Martin doing the pegging that just left me & Kingy doing the cash, Richie Cole’s came up to me & said your not going to beat me today you little F@cker want £20 on it. I declined as I didn’t want to take the pensioners cash & the language Rich really.. On to the Covid distance draw & I just wanted to draw next to Richie as he was dying to jump in my fourth spot ha no chance 🤪🤪

Well I got my wish & I got 13 Richie on 12 can’t write it could ya 🤣🤣

I did think he was going to give me a Skill School Lesson tho ?? 

I done 2 lines at 13m one positive & one maggots over maggots long story short neither worked at all… I also done a short line to my left where there’s some kind of tree thing & a cage feeder to the island & open water again long story short neither worked. 

I had eyes on my tubby mate to my right & he was catching small roach on the tip then he had a bonus Skimmer I thought all over for me, then Steve Cole’s started to catch Bream definitely all over as I still couldn’t catch ??

I did have a few roach & new-sense Carp I could see the guys down to my left were also struggling whilst the guru was trying to enpty the tree with his Supera what were you doing pmsl 🤣🤣🤣🤣 & you didn’t pay up on your side bet just saying lol 😂 

Locky was on form my gosh was he !! he ran away with it winning the day on the Silvers & the series 😁😁👍👍 top man.. Legend.. 

the other guys I think 4 ? were on the other side catching, Bagger Allen saying he lost some quality on the corn, I heard that was going to be his approach as he always does well on it.. 

I could see the scalesman approaching & I had to take the bittersweet pill 💊 & swallow it I’d completely blown out the wheels truly fell off up the Creak with out a Paddle & didn’t I have to hear about it off Bagger Knewl best peg on the lake well not today ?? Fair play to him he said he was going to empty it & he did 😁🎣

Plus we’ll done Shaner for 2nd Overall.

Richie unlucky buddy you were nearly there 👍 but nearly isn’t cutting it I done you 😁👍🎣 

It was a great league the competition was aggressive & fun & we certainly had laughs all the way through it. Well done Kinger we said we’d do these things & we will. 

So next week we’re at Summerhayes if you haven’t booked in book in with Shaner. Tight lines 🎣🎣👍

Things we do on a Monday morning at 04.30 - when you’ve just got a new puppy 🐶 Sprocker that’s had you up all night.

So this week were at the above round two of the second match of our Silvers League - Oh My is it tight now.. 

A quick message with Locko Saturday to arrange to meet him in the cafe in the morning, on my arrival there were a few friendly faces, on my table was Locko Yogi Selway & Stan, I joined Locko with something a bit more lighter I had the sausage & egg sarnie at great value with a cuppa £2.40 Awsome..

I couldn’t believe it Kingy turned up with his own mug - What the F@@k 🤣🤣

After the food, off to the car park to load up & draw, Parked up next to me on a pleasure session was my old mate Paul Berry not seen him for years a Venue expert - he told me I needed to be in the thirties, so another random draw got me Peg 35 absolutely means nothing to me as I’ve only had one match on here this year. Stan was on my left on the tip & Yogi to my right on the tip both going for Carp, one on was Locky weird that the same four at the breakfast table now the same on the bank 😁 

I had a pretty good view of the line up on the other bank apart from Yammy Townsend behind the island. My peg consists of three lines two at 12m because of the wind & a short line, I made a Cardinal Sinn & changed something - I’d been doing all through this series & that was my G/b mix & I’m not to sure if it was a good move or not ? at 13.45 I still hadn’t had a bite not a touch ???. Stan had only one carp which he lost & that was his only bite. Yogi had a carp then a skimmer & another. I’m thinking what to do ? what to do ? I’ve tried everything. further out on the cage feeder maybe the answer looking at Yogi, he did give me a skill school lesson. 

So now I had three quick bites from 14.00hrs to 14.45 that was it for three good skimmers 😁 Stan had packed up & gone home early & so had Jordy Searle. I couldn’t see Danny & Westy so I had no clue to where they were going ?

Locko was picking up fish consistently & so was Kinger. 

Steve Cole’s was the man I was watching as he was the closest to me on the league & I didn’t want to drop out now.. 

Rich coles I didn’t see him catch tbf but heck he came from nowhere to slot into Steve’s place on the sheet - good angling for sure.. Paul Berry was on Brick he was catching all day & said I don’t know why you don’t have more matches on here it’s more consistent in the winter, maybe we should look at that Kingy ? Well from 14.45 to 15.30 not a bite lol 😂 aw-well.

Jamie brought the scales around, the other bank had done better & Westy was admitting to 2lb something. Locky weighed in & I was surprised thought he had more than me 😁 when it came to Westy I heard him whisper to Kinger what did Shaun weigh in again ?? ha 🤣🤣 he done me by a 1lb 👍🎣

That’s about it I tried to make a very uneventful day sound interesting that was hard lol not sure if I did ? 😂🤪..

Next week we’re at Avalon & this will be interesting as the top three are really close .

Well done to Kingy he was fourth & now second banging on Westys door to take him out, Locky just behind - looking for both of them to take out & Rich Coles comes in around 5lb trying to rid me off my fourth place ?? It’s been a great league with the Grand Finale this Sunday can’t wait? Thing is do I go there Wednesday for a practice ?? Hmm will see & see you Sunday 😁😁😁😁 tight lines.. 

AGM Cancellation 07.01.22

 I have just received a message from Phil to let everyone know that the AGM has unfortunately been cancelled for this Friday at the 37 Club due to Covid reasons.

I have spoken to Phill to see if I can arrange a Zoom Meeting AGM this maybe better for everyone under the current circumstances, once this has been arranged I will give out the web address for members to join ? 

On a better note the cafe will be open at Sedges for breakfast 🍳😁😁 this week..

First match back after Xmas & round two of the silvers league… 

When I pulled into the car park Graham Burge was there to meet me nice to see him back, not long after Locko & Shane pulled in. A quick wind up with Locko saying the pressure is on buddy to stay up there 😜 not long after we had a full car park with a full lake booked on, Woodlands looked great the water was right up & full of colour but don’t be fooled this was going to be hard going & it certainly was. In my head today I thought I need 5lb to stay up there I’ve sort of been thinking that all over Xmas (sad) ha. 

Westy done the pegging & Kingy done the organising, Westy done a covid draw pulling the peg numbers out from the random list, all the good pegs we’re starting to go I thought I was going to be on the far bank where I definitely didn’t want to be when it came to my number Kingy said I don’t believe it - I looked he said where do you want I said 23 he showed me 23 bang !! that’ll do me Awsome.. 😁🎣 I was definitely feeling the pressure today not to drop off & with the first time on my new pole I was quite unsettled. I plumbed up at 12 meters finding a deep spot of around 6” over, with the cold rain going in could this be the area ? I also done 2+3 line & a margin. The weather was great until we had rain & it poured down for a considerable amount of time just messing everything thing up really. I had bites all day but no stamp at all, shame really but hayho that’s the way today. For company I had Shane to my left on the tip going for carp & on the right was Rob Eagle doing his silvers tactics. Across was Jordy Eric not doing so well & Westy doing the same as everyone else. I could see the line up on the far bank & tbf no one was rocking the world. I kept on going for it but with no reward. The best thing about today was it was hard, everyone kept to their places apart from one Kingy he’s flew up behind Locko the heats on you two lol 😂 that’s gonna be very interesting. I managed my 5lb what I was looking for 👀🎣 Westy done me by 15oz he said stick that on your blog 🤣🤣🤣 luv it 🤣🤣🤣 

Sedges next week all to play for, I think it’s going to get harder & a few changes along the way.. Let’s have it 🎣see you there think I’ll do a practice with Yammy Townsend this week 😜🎣
