26.02.23 Woodlands

First match back for me for a couple of weeks due to work & things so I was looking 👀forward to this week. A chat with Locko in the week about how it would go plus tactics. 

Before I’d got there I had my plan in my head for Silvers I thought this was the way to go as I felt the the Carp were still balled up in the lake so to land on them could be a lottery, I was the first one there far to early lol 😂 

I am going to put this out there and have a moan - why are we fishing to 15.30 / 16.00 hrs the club rules state winter fishing times are 10.00 - 15.00hrs the times change when the clocks change then we go to 16.00 I mentioned it to Tony Fry & he didn’t know either but was in agreement that 15.00hrs is far sufficient on days like yesterday !!! 

The car Park started to fill - 18 booked on for today as always this venue is a favorite with the guys, payouts today were also very good Top four on both 😃

I hung it out on the draw I wanted the near bank but with the wind & temperature the far side was more inviting, I drew 13 Not a good peg in the winter, Locky was on 14 & Rob on 12 Simon Gardner on 11 & Bagger Allen on 15 what a line up. 

The all in at 10, I fed my l2m line & then went out on the cage feeder, I was getting liners straight away & Locky saying the same I then hooked a Skimmer & that was it on that after probably an hour onto my pole lines.

I was getting bites but only small fish Bagger was hanging it out on corn & expanders for a better stamp & he was getting them, I haven’t got the patience & confidence what can I say that’s why he’s called Bagger lol 😂 

I then had some elastic come out for better Skimmer nothing much but better than I’d been having then a Perch I’m still scratching but it’s a bonus. 

It was a hard day & I stuck to my guns it’s not the style fishing I like hard work for 5.14 for 3rd what could I have done differently sat on corn or expander I spose

Avalon 19.02.23

 Well yammy doing the blog again this week. So avalon was the venue for the days match and another dry day was on the cards altho it was chilly. Anyway so I drew yet again peg 29 can't get away from the lower end of the lake. Had tony newel to the right and Rob dodd to the left of me. At the all in I fed gbait whilst chucking bomb and bread to the island and an hour in I was still biteless, rob had 2 skimmers and Tony had carp no4 in the net. I've had 2 skimmers in 2 chucks then nowt so fed my margin and had a carp first put in. At 11.30 tony had 49lb on the clicker and he could have finished then as non of us would have caught him making it 3 wins on the trot. Really good on bomb and pellet he is. It was great to see Phil on his road to recovery. My tally came in at 5 carp and 6 skimmers for 27lb not brilliant but scraped 3rd. Really hard going today but a great day anyway. Sedges 12.02.23

 Yammy here doing a short blog. Well after waiting all week to go fishing and really looking forward to seeing the lads my fishing with them was cut short rather quickly as I had only gone and miscounted by 1 person which would have meant an extra half a lake for 1 angler so unfortunately I had to fish on another lake by myself. On a positive I did beat myself but only just lol. Anyway well done to all the framers today on the other lake. Avalon next week and if I have missed anyone please text me as numbers have to be given to Vic by Tuesday. Seeya all next week and hopefully I can fish with you all next week 😆

Covey 05.02.23

 Covey Match Canal 

So this week we stopped off at the above with a good turn out compared to the last time we were here.

This week we had 16 & quite rightly so as this is a good venue well kept & loads of fish - F1’s normal Silvers plus the odd Chubb & Barbel chucked in the mix. 

Unfortunately this is are last one here until next winter 🥶.

On to the draw I was one of the last to draw & I had peg 2 not a good peg tbf in the winter but ok in the summer I’d imagine. 

For company I had Bagger Allen to my left same as last time but the right & Gringe Chivers to my right one up on the left was Si Gardner so I’m up against two quality guys. 

Bagger done me last time here by a lb or so payback could be on the cards. 

I luv this time of year pritty basic stuff so feeding is key. 

I felt quite penned in today with no margin either so longish across for two swims & a short swim, my thoughts were let’s do one swim at a time & try & work it out a bit 

I did notice yesterday how many guys we’re using the Des Ship F1 floats there were loads of them I was using a faithful Tom Hardy Shannti’s I’ve got a lot of confidence in these however I had a tray of Des Ship floats aswell Maggot & F1. 

I think I’m going on a bit well that’s just to fill the gaps 🤣 so the all in was 10 & finish at 3, it was quite a confident start bagger was straight in to a F1 & then Si, I heard Westy shout up writings on the wall I didn’t feel right to let that happen after last time, so I got my head down & started to catch some F1’s my line started to get strong but there were no patterns.

I started to feed my short line as I had no margin but after looking a few times nothing I also did another long line but Zilch just the one line - shit you can’t keep going at the same hole in the winter especially when things are hard. 

True to the words I wore my swim out after 1pm I couldn’t get a bite anywhere it started to get proper cold with the wind so I got fed up at half two & called it a day I couldn’t see anything happening apart from getting my kit back in the van quicker lol 😂 plus I helped Danny with the weigh-in. 

I knew I’d done ok so I was looking forward to putting my catch on the scales for 2nd Silvers Si had done me but the most important thing in my head was to do Bagger Allen. Talking of Baggers - Bagger Knewll does it again 💪 well done to everyone it was an ok day with no crappy wet conditions.
