20.09.2020 - Shiplate Main

This weeks match was at the very popular and immaculate Shiplate fishery one of the best we fish with big carp and plenty of silvers to be caught.  Recent results had shown some really great weights around peg 8 area with the normal pegs 1 and 15 not been producing.

20 members booked in this week which again is a good turn out and the committee are sorry that we can not accommodate every one every week.

On arrival at 7.55am the last time we visited, the place was packed and I had to go into the overflow carpark, I got there slightly earlier and managed to find a space on the main car park but it was filling up fast with most ponds being fished on.

When I left home earlier this morning the weather was nice, sun just coming out and a very slight breeze which was in the opposite contrast to Shiplate where the wind was blowing down the lake and was a bit chilly in my shorts, even Tony Newell was sporting a sweatshirt. No hanging around as we were instructed to go straight to the pegs but there was always a little banter whilst loading with George being the brunt of the banter today.

The draw was done via zoom again  this week were supported by Phil.

Onto the draw

Fishing was made difficult in presentation with the high winds and choppy waters and holding a pole even at 2+3 was difficult. It was fortunate that the wind did ease after a few hours that allowed for easier fishing. Catching on the tip wasn't the most productive in areas that normally would produce so fishing

Well done to Steve King on the Flyer, the area holds a massive head of fish but you still have to catch them and to John and Steve  who also framed.

Last time out Bob had a fantastic 51lb, however today he struggled and the honors yet again went to Rich Coles with 55lb and Steve Warren who was not looking forward to his draw managed a good second place with 38lb. Danny takes yet another pound from George whos not been having the favor of the draws but today he was next to his nemeses so the class is that's won.

Well done to all the framers, next week the match is at Landsend and as per normal please phone Steve to try and reserve a place. We will continue to wear face mask on the weigh in as a norm.

Final reminder - Todber monies need to be paid by next week - £10
