05.07.2020 - Sedges - Tile Lake

Today's gathering was at The Sedges Fishery on the tile lake. The weather was absolutely horrid with high winds blowing across the lake from a Westerly direction. Those with their backs against the wind were in for a fairly comfortable day but those who were facing into the wind were not. On a plus side it wasn't raining.

Recent match results indicated that the far bank with the wind in the faces was producing well with Silvers catching up to 50lb and carp reaching nearly 200lb so there was some optimism that good catches were to be had.

The draw was done on Friday evening with the lake being fully booked again with 20 anglers fishing and everyone had arrived within time and managed to get set up nice and early.

Well done to Steve King with a massive bagging session who is starting to find his form again. A good performance for the Guru Tart who nearly exceeded the net limit. Rich Coles goes to show why hes probably the most consistent Silvers fisherman in the club and to Steve Warren who has been learning the trade by sitting next to George. Well done to all.

Thanks for Danny, Steve K and Martin for the weighing in.

Next week is at Avalon, please book your space with Steve Warren asap to ensure a spot.

One good thing about drawing early is that you can always prepare for the match. Knowing who you can be perched next to can sometimes really help. For me, I came fully prepared as I was the (fortunate / unfortunate) one to be next to Phil. Now we all know Phil likes to be heard and his casting skills are lets say a little wayward at times so I wasn't going to take any chances this weekend so I took precautions as per below.
