25/03/2018 SHIPLATE FARM

Shiplate farm 25/03/2018
Main lake

Well another Sunday  and would i catch? With the weather looking good all day and  after reading Tony Rixons blog (he fished the cost cutter mid week) i was full of optimism as he had a great net of silvers but the trouble is he is a class act and i am crap!!! Anyway i got to this fantastic venue early to get a parking space and to say hello to Steve the owner ..

What i love about this venue is that it is full of silvers and that was my plan unless i drew pegs 1 or 15 as the carp live in these pegs ..so i paid my money and went for a walk with lord c to see what flyer he was going to draw today !!

looking from peg 9
Back to the draw and Into the bucket of dream and i pull out peg 3 !! the same peg Mr Rixon had mid week so no pressure then !!!

I set up a soft pellet line feeding micros and a ground bait line with maggots  ..oh yes a and a tip rod to fish towards the end of the island which was a waste of time ...
To my right i had tony fry on peg 2 and to my left i had lord C on peg 4 which was also the golden peg !! i said he draws well ....the guru tart was on peg 1 and Kev was on peg 15 ...oh yes and i had a pound side bet with "the best silvers angler in the club" again so the pressure was on and as i am fishing like my gran this winter i felt like i was beat even before we even started ..i have just lost all my confidence in fishing this winter so i need to change how approach next years cold snap !!
The tart called the all in at 10 and the guys to my left (pegs 5 upwards) were catching silvers from the off and as "the best silvers angler in the club" was one of them catching i got the my pound ready ..again !!
It was a real struggle again and i had about 10lbs which was nice but no chance of framing ...it was also the case for pegs 2,3,4,4a as we all had about the same weight but all chucked back at the end of the match..
The guys started the scales at peg 15 and i and when i got around rob was winning the silvers with 18-11 from peg 14 then tony had 3 carp and some silvers for 13-4,  Mike had a great net of slivers from peg 11 with 23-1 the sausage on peg 10 also had a good net of silvers with 18-6 ..over to the other side of the lake and Alan on peg 7 had a winning bag with 27-10 of all silvers and the Danny next door on 6a also had a good bag of silvers with 17-12  ..Then the last one to trouble the scales was the guru tart on peg 1 who fished the tip for half the match getting a small carp and then set up a pole to catch 16-9 of silvers in a few hours so it must have been solid !!

Alan with the winning net overall
Mike with the winning silvers

Rob 2nd in the silvers (again)
old photo.. sorry !!
And unbelievably the guru tart picking up 2nd overall ....
So a hard day but if you look at the results the silver fishing was great today but just not for me !!!this Sunday we are at Avalon so please book in with the guru tart. Well done to all that framed today ..
