Sunday 1st January 2017 - Sedges Brick Lake

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND GOOD FISHING TO ALL

What a day to start 2017!!  On arrival it was quite warm with no wind, after an hour into the match it was raining, blowing, and the temperature dropping.   I can honestly say it was the worst day of the year!!!

Fourteen turned into the car park, Denise and Jamie looked after us.   No Treasure today,  his son became ill, we all wish him a speedy and complete recovery.  Jamie selected the pegs, and Denise the Golden Peg numbers 5 and 17.   I sorted the cash and it was on with the draw.   The Golden Pegs went to Matt and Sausage, who will be facing each other across the lake.   I drew peg 10 the sheltered corner so was not displeased.   No pole today, George's pound shop glue failed again,so I opted to fish the tip, Tonto came to give me advise, such as, the reel goes on the thick end of the rod, and my set up was illegal etc.   He did turn my reel into a right handed set , and lent me a rod rest, saying I might start fishing by 1-00 o'clock.

At 9-45 Horny tooted and things got underway.   As expected it was going to be hard, and at the end of five hours of struggling only seven weighed in, the top weights coming from one area.   Ninja Eric weighing 55lbs on peg 18,  Horny 28lbs 12ozs on peg 20.   The silvers and the Golden Peg went to Sausage,  with 8lbs from peg 17.

Well done everyone who fished, it was trial by combat.

Wednesday next we visit Viaducts Match Lake, and Sunday its Trinity Woodlands.

                                                     Until then
