The men started turning
up for muster on a warm autumnal morning, the final count being 17 of
" Dad's Army" finest. Tea and Coffee was drunk and
tactics talked before the draw at 9-0 o'clock. Ernie wasn't complaining !!! but said peg 21 should not be in the draw, so like a good organizer I left it out
and put in peg 30. Surprise surprise Ernie drew peg 30, I don't
think it will be included next time, could be we will run out of swims!!
The match got
underway, I drew 33, on my right was young John Newall, and after a slow
start he caught carp steadily. Danny ( Sheriff of Nottingham ) was on
corner peg 31, unseen and silent, very bad news. Pete (Robot Duck) Cooke
on 40. George (Bolton Boy) on 39 looked to have a good
chance, but things didn't work out the way planned .
The outcome was ANOTHER
win for Welsh Mercenary Brian Chivers, who was told by the treasurer Tony Fry,
it was becoming a habit. The silvers went to SPD Danny, who with a
bad back and all, did most of the weigh in.
