Trinity 26.03.23

 Trinity Woodlands

Today we’re at one of the club’s favorites, I’ve got to say I was looking 👀 forward to it, as always I was first to get there even tho the clocks went forward & I had a late night. It wasn’t long before the car park started to fill.

The forecast was set to be ok with the rain clearing & a breeze in the air - well the rain didn’t clear for a while & the breeze stepped up to a NE blow not ideal but I was still in the frame of mind we’d all catch,

I drew 25 all good with me as it’s a nice Silver’s area I set up two silver’s rigs a bomb & margin for the carp as a back up good job as my options we’re starting to run out as I couldn’t catch the Silvers no matter how hard I tried I’m not sure why as they were there on my short line for deffo a bit of head melt tbf to my left it was a empty peg & right was DT then Westy followed by Colesy. George was late to the party as he forgot to set his clocks 🤣🤣🤣 but drew a king of a peg as pictured, he was doing well on the Carp down the edge & short in-front. Yammy was manking after his first put in for a Carp, I heard him say that’s a bad Oman but not for him on this occasion, he was crying I haven’t had a bite for hours for that to change he had all his fish down the edge.

Bagger Knewll said he forgot his expanders & the tip season was over he was quick off the mark with a carp & another as I could see opposite me. But his tip rod did come out of hibernation.

I chucked out the tip after i realized the Silvers weren’t playing ball with me, for a mahhooossiivveeee Carp that was the only bite I had on the tip, I kept going at the Silvers lines for at 1.30 I went to my left edge the wind now was at full strength I had primed the right but presentation wasn’t good so I abandoned that margin. So S@@t or bust on my left. They weren’t interested I kept swapping hook baits for a Carp & lost three to hook pulls.

Really frustrating day & if I was honest I didn’t get any form of buzz apart from a migraine. I’ll happily give that session a forget.

Sedges next week Brick not sure what I’m doing yet so maybe a blog maybe not definitely a sheet tho, see you next time tight lines.

Shiplate main 19.03.23

 Shiplate Main lake

This week we’re at the above with a good turn out, 16 keen guys the atmosphere was good everyone was in good spirit & eager to get on to the draw.

I opted for a short walk in case I had an emergency at home with the wife still recovering from her Op, I drew peg 2 I’ve had this one before a couple of times but can’t get my head around it - it’s a great complex but one I do struggle on for what ever reason I don’t know.  For company I had Gringe on 3 & Westy on 1, I chose to fish for everything that swims for bites.

I had a cold 🥶 wind in my face that went cross directions so the long pole over was out.

I set up a couple of rigs for in front at 12m & an edge rig plus a small bomb rod to go across & search 👀 for fish.

The all in at 10 I fed my pole line & chucked the bomb to the island for a Carp within 2 minutes that’s a bad Oman for me that quick it’s like a kiss of death & it was again proven.

Bites were hard to come by a patients game & the same for Westy he had a Carp within seconds on the tip a small cage feeder, he ended up fishing down the edge & catching Silvers.

Gringe was catching on the tip.

I really was scratching around on three lines at 2.20 I was ready to chuck the towel in I grasped at a different feeding pattern threw the bomb out again to let the line settle for another small Carp.

I went back on the pole line it was like flicking a switch they suddenly turned on to the switch in feeding it remained positive for the last 1.5hr to get some sort of respectable weight not enough to frame but if I’d changed a lot earlier well who knows.

Next week at Trinity to do it all again see you there 😁🎣

Away Day booked for 10.09.23

 Hi Guys

A new date for you on the match planner, 10.09.23, I’ve spoken to James this morning & arranged our yearly Away Day Out for the Jubilee Lake on Plantations, I’d imagine this will please a lot of the members as it’s been asked for 😁

I’d also like to add whilst we are on the subject of the Away Day - how are our savings ?

I’ve spoken to Tony Fry / Club Treasurer, he has concerns with the club funding this event & also the Xmas Match to a a standard we have been used to.

I’ve asked him if he can do a regular breakdown of the financial findings on a monthly basis, he agreed & thought this would be a good idea, rather than at the end of the year, this report will be published on the blog.

The committee agreed that this will give every member an insight of where we are especially at this time.

Avalon 12.03.23

I didn’t fish this match as my wife has just under gone a major operation, I am hoping to return as soon as I can.

I spoken to Yammy for his take on the match he said he drew drew 45 he ran to the peg but it didn’t quite go as he would of liked, he was set for carp on the bomb & pole but to no avail. Rob Dodd told him after the match that the carp haven’t been showing down that area for weeks.

Matrix Tony had an early bath for no bites to 14.30

Locky told me he done ok & framed for 2nd in Silver’s even though he lost some proper Bream not Skimmer’s he said 👏🏻👏🏻🎣

Bagger done his thing again with 1st overall 👏🏻👏🏻🎣

I’ve spoken to James from Plantations regarding the away day hopefully this will be available for the September I will update you as soon as I know

I spoke to Yammy this morning he has spaces left for Sunday at Shiplate

26.02.23 Woodlands

 Woodlands

First match back for me for a couple of weeks due to work & things so I was looking 👀forward to this week. A chat with Locko in the week about how it would go plus tactics.

Before I’d got there I had my plan in my head for Silvers I thought this was the way to go as I felt the the Carp were still balled up in the lake so to land on them could be a lottery, I was the first one there far to early lol 😂

I am going to put this out there and have a moan - why are we fishing to 15.30 / 16.00 hrs the club rules state winter fishing times are 10.00 - 15.00hrs the times change when the clocks change then we go to 16.00 I mentioned it to Tony Fry & he didn’t know either but was in agreement that 15.00hrs is far sufficient on days like yesterday !!!

The car Park started to fill - 18 booked on for today as always this venue is a favorite with the guys, payouts today were also very good Top four on both 😃

I hung it out on the draw I wanted the near bank but with the wind & temperature the far side was more inviting, I drew 13 Not a good peg in the winter, Locky was on 14 & Rob on 12 Simon Gardner on 11 & Bagger Allen on 15 what a line up.

The all in at 10, I fed my l2m line & then went out on the cage feeder, I was getting liners straight away & Locky saying the same I then hooked a Skimmer & that was it on that after probably an hour onto my pole lines.

I was getting bites but only small fish Bagger was hanging it out on corn & expanders for a better stamp & he was getting them, I haven’t got the patience & confidence what can I say that’s why he’s called Bagger lol 😂

I then had some elastic come out for better Skimmer nothing much but better than I’d been having then a Perch I’m still scratching but it’s a bonus.

It was a hard day & I stuck to my guns it’s not the style fishing I like hard work for 5.14 for 3rd what could I have done differently sat on corn or expander I spose

Well done to all the framers 👍🏻

This week we’re at Summerhayes plenty of spaces to book in

Avalon 19.02.23

Well yammy doing the blog again this week. So avalon was the venue for the days match and another dry day was on the cards altho it was chilly. Anyway so I drew yet again peg 29 can't get away from the lower end of the lake. Had tony newel to the right and Rob dodd to the left of me. At the all in I fed gbait whilst chucking bomb and bread to the island and an hour in I was still biteless, rob had 2 skimmers and Tony had carp no4 in the net. I've had 2 skimmers in 2 chucks then nowt so fed my margin and had a carp first put in. At 11.30 tony had 49lb on the clicker and he could have finished then as non of us would have caught him making it 3 wins on the trot. Really good on bomb and pellet he is. It was great to see Phil on his road to recovery. My tally came in at 5 carp and 6 skimmers for 27lb not brilliant but scraped 3rd. Really hard going today but a great day anyway. Well done to the framers. Trinity next week so drop me a message if your attending. Thanks everyone have a good week.
