Trinity- Woodlands 23.05.21

This week we were back to Trinity Lakes, Woodlands, this is my first match back after 3 wks due to a bereavement in my family. When I arrived I was met by Tony Fry wearing his new Matrix gear wow he looked like he had his Sunday best on - very smart. Shortly after all the guys started to turn up. We had a good chat whilst Westy & Kingy did the pegging. On to the draw I drew peg 6 happy with that as there’s a lot of options on that peg. The weather was forecasting to be very rough with high winds & a lot of rain & they weren’t wrong, come 11 o’clock it was set in. I started my match slapping with a carp straight away & that was the only one I had on that method. I’d set up a margin rig for right hand side & tip rod rod for the the side pegs that were vacant. I started to Chuck tight to peg 4 which gave me run of fish, that dried up so on to my margin that gave me a couple, back on the tip but that was proving difficult to chuck with acressy. I unclipped & started to Chuck to peg 3 again I had a run of fish which dried up eventually, back to my margin which didn’t feel right as I couldn’t find a flat spot I tried three rigs but none was giving me any confidence tbf fishing the slope in around 3ft. To my left was my Mucca Westy, when I draw next to him he’s a good omen as I get everything right & lead on to a frame plus I give him a class lesson ha 🤣😂

John Wolstencroft fished a blinder weighing in over a Ton, I was told he fished meat short. Bagger Knewll also done well with 2nd Tony Matrix Fry also done well with 3rd. The scales came round & i’d also done Kingy which is rare but nice 😁. Let’s not forget about Onslo he rang in Saturday complaining of a bad back - Westy said is it your back or the weather I’d bet the weather, praps he should go on the reserve list for 12 mths ha 😂 if you know you know 😉. I packed my gear away double quick in the van & gone, I didn’t realise I got a frame for forth so a good day, it was good to be back. We’re at Landsend this Sunday & I’m looking forward to it. Graham mentioned something to me about the blog, I can only say how I see it I don’t know how others fish so if anyone wants to give me an insight to their match please do & I’ll put it up 👍🎣 tight lines guys see you Sunday

Avalon 25.04.21

This week we were at Avalon great all round venue tbf favoured by most of the club. I arrived at 7.30 to see a big orange digger down in peg 24, they’ve been doing maintenance on the bank & removing trees & building the path, it’s looks awesome but how was that peg going to produce today as it’s known as one of the best pegs on the lake.

After having a chat with the guys & plenty of banter flying around it was on to the draw, I drew 24 haha 😂 the digger thing.. Well let’s see. Setting up, easy carp out & out, I set up a tip rod for bomb & pellet & two margin rigs, corn over Gb & the other just corn can’t get much simpler than that. The all in was called & I went straight out on the tip to the reed bank on my right, the line didn’t even have time to sink as the rod was bending to a carp, this is a bad Oman to me a fish this quick, I chucked out again & another carp now I’m thinking this could be a good day, I then had another but lost it to a hook pull. I kept on this line until around 12.30. Time for the margins to a carp down my left by the tree. That was it on that line, however, I was swapping margins all afternoon. I saw some signs on my long margin at 3.30 I fed it & went straight on it for a carp in 10 minutes - to little to late really. Kingy was proper struggling all day haha 😂🤣 happens to the best of us, he did hook a couple of lumps & one done him going through the tree. I could here the Guru Tart proper going for it the air was blue he lost eight carp all down the edge. Grandpops Bob came up for a chat saying he couldn’t catch a decent stamp of silvers but I did see his landing net come out a few times. Danny looked to be struggling like all of us, the lake did fish hard today for everyone apart from John Wolvenscroft he won the lake & the golden peg, nice pick up & good angling as always.

Not much else to say I couldn’t see anyone apart from those I mentioned & it was a tuff going day.

Just the last thing to finish on - done Westy again luv it 🤣🤣🤣🎣

Next week we’re on Shiplate Kingy’s favourite so I’d amagine he’ll pull that match back until then tight lines & have a great week 😁🎣

Trinity Lakes - Woodlands 18.04.21

 Trinity Lakes - Woodlands

This week it was one of my favoured Venues but on the flip side how was it going to go ? I had spoken to George Saturday when I saw him in Somerset Angling he said he’d been down there on the Wednesday with Eric & Bagger Knewll & they struggled tbf, hmm. I also spoke to Kingy Saturday evening & it gives me great pleasure to hear him say you’ve mashed my head haha 🤣..

So on to the draw I drew 31 ah defo not the area I would have picked. For company I had Rich Cole’s to my left & Rodgy to my right & Locky on 29. I set up two silver rigs to fish maggots over GB & another to expander over micro at 12m left & right plus a pellet feeder on the tip. The all in was called before I done anything on the silvers lines I went straight out on a shallow rig just to see if I could catch shallow & sure enough I had one straight away, could the writing be on the wall I went back out & another, definitely carp it is unfortunately I lost that one. Silvers rigs binned off. I Carried on with this method all day hooking nine carp & only landing three arrgghh so frustrating. I did chuck the tip out with eight minute intervals between casting just to get some bait out there this was around 35m the tip didn’t move. I also done a margin rig same rig either side but only fished towards the tree which can be quite productive but not today not a bite. We had two new starters John Davies & Darren Vowells, we all welcome you & look forward to competing. I could see Darren catching well shallow long, short & the pellet wag, tidy, he went on to win the match - well done good start. Straight in front of me was Grandpops Pasco he was doing well on the silvers & giving Eric neck ache. The Guru was on the tip & he stayed on it all day to give me my side bet 😁, what I could see on the far side was no one was catching apart from Darren. Tony Fry seemed to be struggling aswell so it was a open playing field by lunch time. Locky went off like a train catching Silvers & kept it going most of the day to win the Silvers, class. Rich Cole’s started catching Silvers but he swaped to the dark side as it wasn’t really happening for him. Shane Western alias Onslo came bank walking talking of nothing happening around the twenty’s so everyone was still in it, well so we thought until the table turned & they started catching especially Kingy & Gringe catching Shallow fair play they done second & third. Hard day for most with a few dnw. Always nice to beat my my mate Martin Western Westy haha 🤣🤣🤣 & winning my side bets 👌

Next week we are at Avalon another Sunday to look forward too until then then tight lines, see you there 😁🎣
