Trinity Woodlands 19.05.24

 Trinity Woodlands

Didn’t do this one as I had to work, so a lite sort of blog..

It was nice to see the weights improving Jamie Case stole the show with a impressive weight & a touching comment he made on the internal HLS Wats App Blog thanking all the members that wished him well on his first win. Absolutely brilliant 😁👍ðŸŧ💊ðŸŽĢ

Kingy never out of the frame & Mark C to follow.

Also nice to see the Silver weights getting better.

Well done to those Anglers..

I’m there in two weeks I think I got a 2 dayer so hopefully I’ll be able to snare a few.

I had my first pairs match of the the series with the Watchet Club Saturday on Dunwear Senior I was really pleased me & Paul made second just thought I’d put that up just to make the write up a little longer.

Have a good week guys the weather getting warmer & hopefully all spawning is over & done with, look forward to catching up on the next 😁ðŸŽĢ

Sedges Canal 12.05.24

 Sedges Canal

Last minute booking on & wow I’m glad I did it was a really enjoyable day tbf..

Met in the cafe as usual then on to the draw that gave me peg 60, this was the 3rd time for me on this canal & I quite enjoy it.

On my left was George on my right Phil Dodd nice company for the day across I had Beardsy then Rob Dodd so plenty to watch & see what’s going on ?

It was always going to be tuff going spawning fish everywhere not ideal but it was what it is-so straight across about a foot off - a track rig & a edge rig & a couple of shallow rigs, George was straight into a nice bream & cracking on with the silvers & Phil D was on the traditional wag, Beardsy was loosing foul hookers down the edge & Rob was picking up fish as usual. I was getting small carp steadily but they were small. I backed off the spawning fish to try & build a swim of feeding fish that seemed to be working. I was rotating with this & the track whilst dribbling feed in the margin.

Everything was going well & getting better until doom struck some how my rig weak’nd & a carp finished it I went straight to the track rig & altered it to more a less the same but never is ??? That was that line done the wind picked up & then it was to hard across. The margin looked good plenty of fish showing but nothing apart from two small carp, George was steadily catching skimmers on & off then a big tench that he lost ðŸ˜Ą he was absolutely gutted & banged on about it for ages & more ðŸĪŠðŸĪŠ

Well done to everyone on a hard but enjoyable day.

A bit of an unusual weekend this week I’ve got my first pairs match of the season & it’s at Dunwear Saturday on the main lake then hopefully Trinity Sunday.

Have a good week see you on the next 😁ðŸŽĢ

95.05.24 Avalon

Sorry it’s gone up so late but totally forgot about it, tbf I wouldn’t think there’s much to write about as I fished it on the Saturday with the Watchet Guys.

We had the roadside bank & Vic had his open on the other bank, the lake was nearly full & it fished rock hard, however, I did manage 4th on the Silvers with 6.7..

Vic’s open carried on after we left but they were also struggling Vic had 2 Carp Alvin Jones was still on 1 so that says it all.

Tight lines I’ll see you all soon not fishing this weekend as the wife is away with work so I’m dog sitting, maybe not such a bad thing with the heat there bound to be thinking if not spawning

Shiplate Hawthorn 28.04.24

 Shiplate Hawthorn

You literally couldn’t write ✍️ it what a day of quite a disbelief & the excuses start  lol 😂 na not excuses just rock hard…

I was really looking forward to this one after a disaster weekend on the match front from last week.

spoke to my good friend in the week as it’s his venue & he put me on the right lines & to be fair it seemed like a simple day with no confusion & my bait tray reflected just that. So to my left I had my usual neighbor on the venues Rob Eagle well that’s a bonus quality angler & I’d see exactly what’s going on plus Eric on the next to my left all good, to my right a good mate of mine Stan & today he’s on the pole aswell 👍ðŸŧ

Just down from him George then Tony F not that I could see that far…

So I had about 13.5 across nice & comfortable that was my meat line on the deck & a shallow rig just in case, 2X2 or 3 same depth in case they backed off or didn’t want to be that short - another meat line fed by the humble hand only, then a margin rig, pretty deep that 3.5ft that’s the only flat spot I could find fed with micro & bits of corn easy nice & simple..

The all in straight over no feed just the hooker stayed on this line on & off nearly all day on the deck & shallow gave me one & a couple foul hookers that fired off & came off, I had liner after liner so the shallow rig comes in they didn’t want it quite frustrating. Rob was in to a carp also Eric was on the long pole for nothing Stan was sat on the tip for nothing it was hard, however, the weather was being kind blowy but ok, I fed the short line now for a few hours again only foul hookers that came off.

Were in to part two of the day & absolutely nothing to shout about Rob had a couple of carp & a couple eals - Eals again … Eric wasn’t  performing surprisingly as he had peg 1 empty but if he’s not catching it’s desperado’s, Stan was in the same boat as the rest of us nothing happening.

Now we’re starting to feel the pain I literally had 10 carp cruising in front of me so I sat there just waiting to mug one or two but soon as I put the pole out they disappeared. Rob getting desperate too & so is Eric at one point I’m sat there with my head in my hands ha…

So this one I’m going to keep quiet about as it might come good in the future aswell I’ve done something & thought I’ve sussed it I’ve got a run of carp well 4 to get me back in the game, that died don’t know why so I’m looking 👀 down the edge for nothing 4pm all out & thats that’s that. Stan changed his method on the tip to give him 5 - interesting so the four of us have our side bets I’m saying 24lb Stan saying 25lb Beardsy & Tony we don’t know but there in on the side bets I literally couldn’t be bothered to weigh in but I did to give me 3rd Tony took the side bets getting him 2nd well done buddy. I literally thought the other end were emptying it but not the case. Well done to Rob he took the Silvers with George just behind then Jamie 3rd. Fair play to Rob D on a great weight on the day to win the lake 😁💊ðŸŽĢ

Next week I’ve got a two dayer at Avalon Saturday with Watchet & Sunday HLS awsome looking forward to it see you there 😁ðŸŽĢ

Avalon 20.04.24

 Avalon

It’s been quite a weird weekend on the bank I done Sedges Tile on Saturday with the Watchet guys that was strange - plenty of fish carp up on the island I drew 32 I don’t really rate that area ?? I also had 3 Eals that went for 12lb & just picking off carp here & there I couldn’t get them going on the Pellet Wag but I could see my mate Lee Merrit bagging on the Pellet Wag & sneaking a few Slapping..

Anyway on to Avalon drew 45 nice peg there was a horrible side wind that was proper cold ðŸĨķ tho long story short it was far worse than Saturday a few on the tip went out 11m for absolutely nothing also done a short line for Jack - nothing.

I had Eric & Mike West to my left & they gave me neck ache, Jamie Case to my right.

I thought I’d go down the edge on the second part of the day for a good Bream I thought I’m got some here that was the it & that was the end, done a early pack up 2.45 for the pub 😎

Hawthorns this Sunday I’m hoping to start to rattle a few pellets in across for a few 😁ðŸŽĢ
