Sunday 26th February 2017 - Landsend Fishery

After a Saturday match at the fishery 22 of the HLS guys felt it would be a hard day. The owner Mike decided it would be best if we were spread over Speci and Match lake. The Golden peg was 13 and this is usually a hot peg so when Neil Woollaston drew it he had a smile on his face.

The results were:-

Match Lake
Overall
1st peg 21 Dave Allen 32lbs 2oz
2nd peg 1 Pete Cook 24lbs 5oz

Silvers
peg 19 George Fletcher 10lbs 12oz

Wednesday 8th February 2017 - Viaduct Campbell

There were just eight of us today fishing Campbell all on one bank with the sun behind us.   There were plenty of carp rolling about on the surface, but I'm sorry to say they were not feeding, it was a day for the silvers.

I did all the buisness, the draw was made, Bend It got the Golden Peg 114, and we fished from 10 until 3-30.   I drew peg 112 which was a peg I've won on before; so fingers crossed.

No groundbait today, just lightly feeding pinkies and caster at 11 metres; it was 0.9 straight through and caster on a 20 hook.   From the start I caught small roach, then a nice surprise, a skimmer around 1 1/2 lbs, times got better with quality perch, a 2lbs tench, and some more skimmers.   It was a pity about the last 2 hours, I was back to small roach,   I had some good news from Tivy Dave fishing to my left, he reckoned I might get second with the Nasty Old Sheriff taking the honours, I said we will see.

At 3-30 Senior Badger Steve came to weigh us in, he started with Danny who totaled 18lbs 2ozs, then Bend It with a nice 13lbs 2os. At last Robbing Bob Hood got the better of the Sheriff with 19lbs 2ozs, which included a perch weighing 3lbs 4ozs.

A satisfying day, the weather was fine, and the craic very good.

Sunday 5th February 2017 - Shiplate Main Lake

It started cold and windy, but as the day went on it got better in all aspects.  Horny was showing remarkable control, doing a good job checking people in and taking names before passing them on to Treasure, who relieved them of their money

There were nineteen fishing today, the Golden Peg was 13, which was drawn by Tivi Dave.   I was on peg 15; I could have done without the long haul.   I didn't have much bait, but Sausage supplied some caster; thanks mate.

Horny tooted and with not much feed at 11 metres, double pinkie on the hook off we went.   George was on my right, and I could see the bad old Sheriff across the lake on peg 1.   We all started catching small roach from the off, but as time passed it became obvious Danny had better quality.

Carol, Steve and Reggie weighed us in, starting with myself, I had mustered 4lbs 12ozs of small roach, I'd had a very busy day.   George on the next peg had 5lbs 6ozs,  Sausage was next with 8lbs 6ozs which was good enough for third silvers.   Danny did the business AGAIN, winning overall with 24lbs 14ozs, another installment on the suit???

Wednesday 1st February 2017 - Avalon

Today 12 of "F" Platoon Dad's Army were on parade all kitted up, and ready to assault this very good lake.   Chris is looking after us today, so I selected the pegs and the Golden Peg number 7.   The money collected, Avalon paid, and it was ready for the draw.   George was back to normal when he got peg 4, saying I've got no chance and would be going home for lunch.   Bend It got the Golden Peg.

Off down the bank they marched, starting to load and check their weapons, mixing and checking their ammunition,  I felt quite sorry for the fish.

I drew 13 with Tony Newell to my right and Dave Allen three pegs to my left.   I felt confident I would see quite a few fish caught, but not by myself.   When Tony and Dave started using their landing nets and I was catching white bait, I was not surprised, but was quite happy fishing in good company.

Danny got my nugget, another payment towards his new suit,  but the winner of the silvers with 19lbs 8ozs was Dave Allen who, like myself, had been having a lean time of late.   Well done Dave.   Pete (he who can do no wrong) weighed in 79lbs 5ozs of carp winning by a distance.

Today was really good, with all the lads catching, even Bend It couldn't say Bob didn't catch 2lbs.  Another plus was the wife's car, it made it there and back.  Thank you Marilyn.  The full results are below.
